Just a Little Retail Therapy!

I have been looking for a graduation dress for months..literally.  I finally found the winner today.  It is the new Lilly Pulitzer Sarafina dress.  I'm so excited for graduation next Friday.  I spent the past week saying goodbye to my kindergarten cuties and spent my last days as a collegiate Phi Mu.  It has been a bittersweet week to say the least.  It was nice feeling special and feeling as though I will be missed.  After an emotional week, I certainly needed some retail therapy today.  What do y'all think of my dress?

Here are some of the pictures from my last day at school.  My students and partnership teacher and teacher assistant showered me with gifts.  It was so sad to say goodbye to them.

Some of my kindergarten intern friends!

Here are some pictures from my senior send-off yesterday.  I didn't take many pictures because I had been crying. I'm terrible at saying goodbyes.

This is my beautiful Phi Mu family!

Round Two: Formal Season

We got back yesterday from a wonderful weekend in Isle of Palms.  I had such a good time with Tyler and all of our friends.  We seriously had the best group of people in our house.  I had the time of my life.  It is so weird to think that it was the last fraternity formal I will go to.  (Unless we decide to go when we're in our 50s just to be funny, but that's doubtful.)  We spent Friday afternoon and Saturday at the pool and at other friends houses on the island.

We ate dinner at a place in Mount Pleasant on Saturday night that had a perfect view of the bridge.  It was incredible from the view to the music and food.  Certainly one of the best formals I've been to.

All of the beautiful girls in our house

I'm obsessed with collards.  AND yes....I ate almost all of my plate.

When Tyler and I visited Charleston Law on Friday we literally fell in love with it.  It seems to be a great school.  He has a lot of tough decisions coming up and I'm so excited to see what he choses!

Cooler Painting

I am on the way to Isle of Palms, SC now for Tyler's fraternity formal. I am so excited to be visiting Charleston. It is literally my favorite place to visit. We have houses in Isle of Palms which is right at the beach. We're going into town for the actual formal on Saturday night. Tyler and I are going to visit Charleston Law tomorrow morning in town. I'm excited to see the school.

It is a tradition to give your date to formal a painted cooler. This is my third formal with Tyler and he has more than enough coolers, but I couldn't bare to not make him a cooler. I decided to make him a smaller cooler this year. I didn't have as much free time to put into this cooler but I think it turned out pretty well. I was literally working on it up until 10 minutes before we left. I'm just happy we are finally on the way and can't wait for this exciting weekend.

Can't wait to share pictures from this weekend with y'all!

Formal Fever

Happy Sunday Y'all!  Let me start by saying how busy I have been this past week and I hate that I haven't had time to blog.  This past week was my last full week teaching...weird! I still have 2 weeks left of my internship but they consist of phasing out and observations in other grades and other schools.  I will have a little more time on my hands now that I won't be teaching.

Last night was my senior formal and I had such a wonderful time.  We went to Bella Luna in Topsail Island.  I usually always wear a short dress to my formal but this year I decided to wear a maxi dress this year.  It is a BCBG.  I fell in love with it when I saw it and had to have it.  What do y'all think?

Tyler's formal in Charleston is this weekend.  I am so excited.  (I love formal season!)  I am in the process of painting his last cooler.  (I really need to get to work on it because there isn't much done to it yet.)  I can't wait to show it to y'all.

The Perfect Vacation

Happy Easter!  I hope everyone has enjoyed this beautiful day!  We went to Raleigh last night as soon as we got back into town so we could spend today with Tyler's family.

Our vacation was amazing! Where do I even begin? We got to our hotel on Amelia Island late Wednesday night. On Thursday we woke up and went straight out to the beach. There isn't anything better than sitting in a beach chair and enjoying the view of the ocean.  For lunch, we went to this neat restaurant named Sliders. It was right across the street from our hotel and was ocean front. We sat outside and enjoyed drinks and the view.

For dinner we went downtown. Their downtown is so beautiful. It reminded me of a mini version of Wilmington. We had a delicious dinner at Brett's Waterway Cafe which was located right on the sound. I literally had the best meal ever of country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and collards. I was craving a good southern meal. Tyler got shrimp and grits. I'm not a seafood fan (minus the oysters I tried recently) so I always stick to land food when we go out to dinner. After dinner, we walked down to the water and enjoyed the beautiful view.

For dessert we went to an amazing fudge shop called Fantastic Fudge. It was advertised on the cover of Southern Living so I knew it had to be good. I have a bit of a weakness for sweets. I got a slice of the chocolate peanut butter fudge. One word: AMAZING.

On Friday, we got up early to drive into Georgia to St. Mary's to catch the ferry to Cumberland Island for the day. Cumberland Island was literally one of the most gorgeous place I have ever been. There were wild horses everywhere. It was so neat to see the ruins of the houses that were there in the 1800's. I've never seen a maritime forest and the island is covered with wildlife. The live oaks and vines covered the path through the island. Tyler and I enjoyed our picnic lunch under a tree covered in Spanish moss. I loved spending time on an island where there isn't much civilization. The pictures honestly do not give this beautiful island justice.

Our vacation was absolutely perfect. We both needed time to get away and relax.

Did any of y'all do anything exciting for Easter?

Spring Break!

Happy Wednesday!  I have been on Spring Break since Friday and I am loving every minute of it.  I spent Sunday at Bluewater in Wrightsville Beach for live music.  Every Sunday during the summer, they have live music and drinks.  What more could you ask for?  I went home to Little Washington on Monday to work on my graduation announcements with my Granny.  I packed up my car with my first load of my "college life" to take home.  It was a little more depressing than what I had planned on it being.  I can't believe I graduate in a few weeks.  Luckily, I get to spend the summer in Wilmington before I leave for my job in July so I shouldn't get too sad.

Tyler and I are heading out of town in a couple hours to go to Cumberland Island, Georgia.  I am beyond excited to get away with him.  We haven't been anywhere in so long.  Neither one of us have ever been to Cumberland Island but Tyler read about it online and I fell in love with it when I saw pictures.  We are staying in Amelia Island, Florida which is just a ferry ride from Cumberland Island.  We are planning on getting there late tonight then spending the day at the beach tomorrow.  On Friday, we are taking a ferry over to Cumberland Island with a picnic lunch.  There isn't anywhere to eat on the island and the only thing there is a bed and breakfast.  I hope that it will be a nice relaxing day.  I can't wait to share pictures with y'all!

Tyler and I made it on High Cotton Ties Facebook page to win a free tie from them.  If you have time, go over to their Facebook page and like the picture of us from Carolina Cup!

XOXO

Carolina Cup

Yesterday was the 80th annual Carolina Cup in Camden, South Carolina. It is a horse race where girls wear preppy dresses and big hats and guys wear colorful pants and bow ties. I've been for the past 4 years and it never disappoints me. We left yesterday morning from Wilmington on a charter bus at 5am and didn't get back last night until 9:30. It was a very long day but worth every minute. It rained the whole way there but luckily never rained while we were there. I love seeing all the preppy dresses and hats that girls wear. I ended up taking my hat off when we got there because it kept blowing off my head. I feel like this happens every year but I always insist on wearing one anyways. Here are a few of the pictures from yesterday:
