Our vacation was amazing! Where do I even begin? We got to our hotel on Amelia Island late Wednesday night. On Thursday we woke up and went straight out to the beach. There isn't anything better than sitting in a beach chair and enjoying the view of the ocean. For lunch, we went to this neat restaurant named Sliders. It was right across the street from our hotel and was ocean front. We sat outside and enjoyed drinks and the view.
For dinner we went downtown. Their downtown is so beautiful. It reminded me of a mini version of Wilmington. We had a delicious dinner at Brett's Waterway Cafe which was located right on the sound. I literally had the best meal ever of country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and collards. I was craving a good southern meal. Tyler got shrimp and grits. I'm not a seafood fan (minus the oysters I tried recently) so I always stick to land food when we go out to dinner. After dinner, we walked down to the water and enjoyed the beautiful view.
For dessert we went to an amazing fudge shop called Fantastic Fudge. It was advertised on the cover of Southern Living so I knew it had to be good. I have a bit of a weakness for sweets. I got a slice of the chocolate peanut butter fudge. One word: AMAZING.
On Friday, we got up early to drive into Georgia to St. Mary's to catch the ferry to Cumberland Island for the day. Cumberland Island was literally one of the most gorgeous place I have ever been. There were wild horses everywhere. It was so neat to see the ruins of the houses that were there in the 1800's. I've never seen a maritime forest and the island is covered with wildlife. The live oaks and vines covered the path through the island. Tyler and I enjoyed our picnic lunch under a tree covered in Spanish moss. I loved spending time on an island where there isn't much civilization. The pictures honestly do not give this beautiful island justice.
Our vacation was absolutely perfect. We both needed time to get away and relax.
Did any of y'all do anything exciting for Easter?
